Dr. Paul Koch writes, “I am part of a multistate research team looking at dollar spot, and one of our projects is a survey to learn more about how superintendents choose bentgrasses so we can encourage more adaptation of disease-resistance. Could you please send the following email text out to the Illinois and CDGA memberships at your earliest convenience? See below and Thank you!”

The last ten years have seen the development of several bentgrass cultivars with increased resistance to dollar spot. However, these resistant cultivars are not always selected when new golf courses are built or courses are renovated. As part of a multistate, multipronged research effort to improve dollar spot control we have created a short survey to help turfgrass researchers and breeders better understand the factors that superintendents use when deciding which cultivar or cultivars to plant on their course. The results of this survey will provide critical information that will be used in the development and implementation of future disease-resistant grasses. If you manage cool-season turf and are involved in the agronomic decisions at your golf course we urge you to complete this short 10-minute survey to help us in our research.

This survey will remain open until April 1st.
